Key features to take note of in the HIitachi C12 Sliding Compound Miter saw:
First off, you will need to know that the saw features a powerful 15 amp belt driven motor. This motor produces a staggering 1850 watt of max output power. With this power, you should have no problem using the 12 inch saw to cut through almost any piece of wood and even certain types of metal.
This Hitachi miter saw has also been equipped with a patented laser and the laser can easily be adjusted in terms of getting the right angle. The laser can also be activated before the saw is turned on and this should give you a clear-cut projection of the cutting angle.
A zero clearance compound sliding system has also been incorporated to help you work in smaller spaces. By simply adjusting either the back or front mechanisms on the sliding bar, you will be able to squeeze the saw in areas with little space to allow you to cut whatever needs to be cut.
In terms of scaling, you should note that this top-rated miter saw does make use of two scales. The miter scale is used to get the right angle with the saw and this can be adjusted to 46 inches to the left or 57 degrees to the right. A bevel scale is also included to help position the wood you plan on cutting and this can be adjusted to 45 degrees on either side. Another micro-bevel adjustment knob has also been included and after the main bevel has been secured, the micro bevel can be used to adjust and get that precise angle.
What you could expect in the box:
Now that you have a better understanding of the product itself, you will also probably want to know what you will find in the box when purchasing the saw. The saw in itself weight in at about 63.9 pounds and inside the box, you will find a Dual compound saw with laser marker, the 12 inch, TCT 60 tooth saw blade, a dust bag, vice assembly and box wrench.
Setting up the saw is also quite easy by following the instruction and no additional tools will be required. The saw is also ready to use immediately after you managed to put it together.
What I don’t like about the saw:
While nothing is perfect in life, the Hitachi C12RSH saw is close to the perfect type of saw you could have. However, there are a couple of things that we found to be a little troubling. While these are not major, they are worth noting for you to know about:
- Plastic adjustable knobs:
While not a huge problem, the plastic knobs are not as durable as the rest of the saw and over time, they do begin to show signs of deterioration and cause problems when dust does build up on the inside. We believe that you could extend the life of the knobs by simply keeping them clean and blowing out some dust from time to time.
- Lack of clear visual on the laser:
Using the saw outside or in heavily lighted areas, will impair the laser and cause some problems when looking for that perfect square cut. Turning down the lights will allow you to perfectly see the laser, but this might be a problem for contractors working outside.
Where should I buy the Hitachi C12RSH Compound sliding miter saw?
While you might find this saw at your local hardware store, it can be extremely heavy and also expensive, with great deals on Amazon, we managed to see that the saw does go on sale from time to time, but even when it is not on sale, you will not go wrong with the pricing and the customer support that Amazon will provide if you experience some problems.
Who is this saw for?
While contractors and woodworking professionals should definitely invest in the saw, the serious DIYer will also find great use when using the saw. We recommend the saw to every woodworker and even Construction Company. The saw does last a very long time in terms of durability and will definitely be a great addition to your equipment.
