What Makes A Good Saw Stand?

There are many features that a good saw stand must have, in my humble opinion, but if I had to choose three features that would make me want to buy it, I would have to say stability, portability, and strength.

Wide Base = Stable Cutting Table

One of the best things about this rolling saw stand is that it is very stable—even when you are really pushing hard against the saw, as so many of us do. You see, that is because the back legs are offset at a steeper angle than the two front legs and this increases its stability.

It is by far the best table saw stand that I have used in my lifetime. Its sturdy aluminium legs and solid rubber feet ensure that the saw won’t slide around and damage the flooring underneath, nor make for an unpleasant accident, even on the slipperiest of surfaces.

Built-In Wheels, Kickstand & Handle = Portability

If there is one thing that I find very frustrating about being a carpenter, it is the carrying of a bulky table saw and all of the accessories that come with it. With the DW7440RS Rolling Saw Stand, there is no need to make the many unnecessary trips to and from your work area. All you do is just fold up the legs, pull out the handle and then roll the saw to wherever it’s needed and “Voila”, ready to go!

Since most of the weight of the tool is centred near the base area; it makes moving your table saw a breeze.  Large wheels ensure that bumps, jobsite debris, and steps, do not affect the moving around of neither the stand nor the transportation thereof.  And when it’s time to pack it up or store the table saw stand, the built-in kickstand allows the saw, as well as the stand, to sit upright, with the saw still attached to it!

Heavy Duty Construction = Ability To Cut Heavy Duty Materials

Nothing is worse than when you are in the middle of a project and you find that the tools you have just are not strong enough to get the job done. I can tell you that I have cut 3/4-in. plywood without it falling apart or breaking, even though the DeWalt DW7440RS is lightweight.  Mind you, it is rated to take weights of up to 300 pounds!  Its sturdy aluminium construction can take any heavy duty table saw and the materials that they cut.

What comes in the box?

Anything not to like?

The only two drawbacks that I have found are that the bolt holes in the saw tube (frame) are too small to fit the bolts that are included with the stand, so I had to drill them out larger.  Also, the bolts themselves were too short to install with the two flat washers and one lock washer(s) that were included with the saw stand, as per the assembly instructions. I decided to use just one flat washer and one of the lock washers when I mounted the stand and this seemed to work well enough for me.

Where to buy at the best price?

The DeWalt DW7440RS is in the $150 range when purchased on Amazon. Throw in the fact that you get free shipping and you’ll easily see that Amazon’s price is better than you can get in most retail stores.

Like all of DeWalt’s fine tools, it’s backed by a great warranty. A 30-day, no risk satisfaction guarantee, a one year free service contract and a limited three year warranty ensures that no matter how hard you work this table saw stand, it’s going to last for years to come.

Is The DEWALT DW7440RS The Right Miter Saw Stand For You?

Ripping large sheets of plywood with a circular saw can definitely prove to be very difficult, to say the least. That’s because more often than not, the cut isn’t as straight and accurate as it could have been—and that’s where a good table saw comes in handy. But unless you’ve got a really heavy table saw stand or you’ve set your table saw on the ground (not very practical, as you all know), these large sheets of plywood tend to push too hard on the saw, causing it to tip or move precariously during the cut.

You can kiss those troubles goodbye when you use the DeWalt DW7440RS Rolling Saw Stand. It not only prevents the table saw from tipping over when it’s pushed hard by heavy materials, it also helps to make transporting your table saw to and from the job simple and easy. And even if you own a table saw that’s not a DeWalt, it still works just as well.

As a carpenter, I have bought many tools and gadgets, but of one thing I can assure you, this is one of those real accessories for real tools that makes the difference between a good job well done and a frustrating job with too much sweat and struggle.
